| dc.description.abstract | The concept of sin as any failure to conform to the moral law of God, whether it manifests in our actions, attitudes, or even our very nature is embraced by both Christians and Muslims to some extent. However, the variance in the understanding of the concept of sin has been the reason for misconceptions between these two religions, impeding coexistence and cooperation between them. The study investigates these misconceptions surrounding the concept of sin in Christianity and Islam. The objectives of the study are: to assess the theological foundation of the concept of sin in Christianity and Islam, to examine the profound influence of the concept of sin on the other beliefs and practices of Christians and Muslims, and to analyze the contemporary understanding of the concept of sin and its influence on Christian Muslim relations. The study is a qualitative one employing a narrative research design approach to collect, evaluate and analyze data. It utilized secondary data collected from library materials that include books and journals articles on the concept of sin in Christianity and Islam to make its findings. Purposive sampling was employed to address the research questions. The objective is to analyze books, articles, and interpretations that encapsulate the concept of sin in Christianity and Islam, thereby fulfilling the study's aim. Since narrative research seeks to learn more from the authors interpretation of the concept, the emphasis is not placed on number of sample sizes but rather on the quality of the data provided. The study by its findings will eliminate misconception and misunderstanding between Christianity and Islam concerning the concept of the sin and its influence on Christian Muslim relations. | en_US |
