Organization is a voluntary set up of productive assets that include physical structures, human, technology, processes and capital resources to achieve a common purpose. Performance indicators for successful organizations include financial performance, marketing share, workforce commitment and technology uptake among others. Organizational performance is therefore the total performance of all the subsystems in the entire system and each subsystem cannot be ignored if successful performance has to be registered. This study looked at the factors that affect the performance of healthcare industry in Kenya with independent variables being the leadership styles, choice of operation strategies, utilization of resources and the organization culture while the independent variable was the organizational Performance measuring the quality service of healthcare attributed by service efficiency, accessibility, utilization and reliability in healthcare industry. The study was premised on four theories that included transformational, contingency, resource based and McGregor’s x and y theories. The underlying problem in the study which the study addressing was the challenge of public hospitals to offer and maintain a balanced quality service of healthcare in Kenya. The study was a case of Embu, Machakos and Meru level 5 hospitals with a population of 1280 members of staff. The sample size used in the study was 128 respondents representing 10% of the population, purposive sampling technique was applied while data analysis was through percentages and frequencies and descriptive research was used. The survey was administered through structured questionnaires to the selected sample that the researcher identified. The Researcher further tested the variables by computing inferential statistics for the study. The researcher is confident that the study findings will be useful to both the County and National governments and could turn around the healthcare sector if the findings are actualized. This is because it is anticipated that the study has extracted underlying factors that affect the performance of healthcare industry in Kenya. The study will therefore have considerable benefits on all stakeholders in the healthcare industry which include, Patients/Clients, healthcare workers, Organization, the society, the County Governments and the National government. It will also open an avenue for more research in the world of academia inclined to organizational performance in healthcare service provision.en_US
