The purpose of this study was to explore the cause and effects of Mungiki phenomenon. In order to create knowledge that will assist the community and related bodies to have a diversified perception and approach of assisting the unrugged group. Mungiki is a fundamental group of young people with religious, political and cultural issues which bind them together. According to the literature review from many books and articles, the youth are aggressive about their livelihood and occupation but the hopelessness that characterizes the youth does not encourage an integration and mobilization of resources. The research methodology focused on both quantitative and qualitative approaches through the use of questionnaire as well as focused groups. The research findings confirmed the fact that most of the Mungiki adherents are illiterate and which has resulted into hopelessness and other devious behaviors. To make matters worse Mungiki followers do not freely associate with the community from which they come due to stigmatization. Finally the research findings point to the need for the community to embrace the youth and to provide opportunities for empowerment and full utilization of their potential. The youth remain an importantly ingredient for the social and economic development of our countryen_US
