Abstract
Youth unemployment is a global challenge that requires attention, particularly in Tanzania and other African countries. The increasingly difficult challenges faced by young people in the church highlighted the need to understand the Christian community's unique aspects and trends regarding youth unemployment. The struggles experienced by young people in the Church had become more severe, and there was great importance in examining the trends and unique aspects of youth unemployment in the Christian context. This issue did not only affect society and the nation but also the church itself. This research delved into the causes and consequences of youth unemployment in the urban Anglican Nyamagana Deanery, located in the Mwanza region of Tanzania. The study suggested practical steps to reduce or prevent youth unemployment in the area, including rethinking youth work models and theological approaches. By gaining a deeper understanding of the issue, the research aimed to highlight the role of young people in social movements and emphasized the importance of addressing their needs. Ignoring these concerns had the potential to result in increased social tensions and unrest. The study utilized both quantitative and qualitative research methods to investigate the causes and effects of youth unemployment, as well as the wider role of the church in this context. It was premised on the application of Elaine Graham’s practical theology Theory and Richard Osmer’s Practical Theological Method in addressing the problem of youth unemployment.
