Abstract
The Agikuyu worshipped one true God, who is the Supreme Being, creator and the giver of all
things. They had a close relationship with God (Ngai), their daily lives that of the individual and
the society were influenced by believing in Him. When the missionaries came, they introduced
the Christian God and Christianity coated with their Western culture. In this they despised the
Agikuyu concept of God as inferior. For one to be considered as Christian, one had to embrace
the western concepts. Since then, Agikuyu Christian converts revert to Agikuyu God (Ngai)
whenever they think that their problems have not been addressed by the Christian God (Church).
Therefore, there is need to understand the nature of the Christian concept of God in the light of
the Agikuyu Ngai. The aim of the study is to show that if Agikuyu Christians understood God,
they would cease from dualism. The thesis uses Nyamiti’s Ontological approach with the
principle of nexus mysteriorum a model of inculturation the principle of analogia entis.
