| dc.description.abstract | This research was based on an assessment of the gap that exists between the second goal of education in Kenya which is to …„ prepare and equip the youth with knowledge, skills and expertise to enable them to play an efficient role in the life of a nation‟ (UNESCO 2000), and what is being implemented in secondary schools. It focused primarily on the disconnect between desired skill education (that embraces skill and expertise development with knowledge development) and what is being implemented. The research assessed; The extent to which a student‟s skills and expertise are developed through school programs, The factors that contribute to the gap between the skill development goal and its implementation and The effects of involvement of learners in skill development on academic parameters. The research was carried out in Secondary Schools in Westlands District, Nairobi, Kenya. | en_US |
