Abstract

The dissertation topic is about challenges brought by divorce, assigned in social and religious categories that focus on family issues and dynamics. The research was a comparative research carried between the Anglican Christians and Muslims among the Iteso community. The research based on the challenges faced by the divorced persons and the vulnerable gender among the issues in Christian Muslim relations. This dissertation intended to be an academic document rather than a personal one. In the research, the following were found; there were challenges from a psychological part that may focus on the emotional and relationship challenges facing children whose parents have recently divorced and divorced parents. For social challenges, various methods of working with families may be discussed with divorced parents, the society itself, ranging from schools and church with the help of psychologist, counsellors, and qualified theologians. The research has woven interpretations and analyses showing that the social challenges posed by divorcees can be reduced by Culture more than religion. The study seeks to understand why Culture becomes the base and solution when divorce occurs whether in A.C.K or Muslim in the Iteso community. It also seeks to know who are vulnerable in terms of gender, when it comes to divorce and separation and the impacts and challenges. The study also examines the short and long-term challenges and effects of divorce on adults, children and families. When it comes to difficulties those dysfunctional families, suffer, whether they divorce or not, the society feels the effects of divorce. In that matter, the study applied research methodology, which was both theoretical and practical. It is theoretical in the sense that it is a discipline of studying critically various research methods and techniques and literatures concerning divorce. It is also practical because it, deals with final preparation of an overall research design with practical cases of women who are divorced. From the field, several findings became evident ranging from complexity, common and different challenges. Another major findings, was that the challenges, varied from religious/spiritual, psychological, and social.
